Overview:
Eurasia Foundation (EF), a U.S.-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting civil society development and good governance, is accepting applications for the position of Communications Specialist (CS) for an anticipated Advocating for Disability-Inclusive Climate Action in Central Asia (ADCA) project. The purpose of ADCA is to deepen the involvement of persons with disabilities in formulating practical responses to climate change in Central Asia, including climate change mitigation efforts. ADCA is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and will be implemented in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. ADCA’s project activities will be conducted as part of Social Innovation in Central Asia (SICA), a USAID-funded initiative implemented by EF. ADCA is expected to start in September – October 2023 and run until the end of September 2024.
The Communications Specialist (CS) is responsible for developing contextualized communications strategies for program activities with clear interim objectives and measurable indicators. The CS will also manage the program’s social media presence on multiple platforms, ensure timely updates, and provide comprehensive communications support for public events. This position supports the design of program outreach materials and reports to the SICA Regional Information and Communications Specialist.
Responsibilities:
· Develop communications strategies for ADCA project activities, setting clear interim objectives and measurable indicators.
· Provide strategic communications guidance to DPOs implementing advocacy projects as part of the ADCA program.
· Collaborate closely with grantees to ensure consistent branding across all communication platforms.
· Create content such as success stories, media articles, social media posts, and press releases, while overseeing the production of photo, video, and multimedia materials.
· Expand the visibility and the coverage of ADCA program activities by collaborating with media outlets, online influencers, and public sector press services.
· Engage with diverse audiences through various communication channels to effectively communicate ADCA's message.
· Oversee the content of the program's website and contribute to its maintenance and updates as needed.
· Provide comprehensive communications support for public events organized under ADCA.
· Conduct site visits to ADCA grant recipients to gather information for creating success stories.
· Assist in designing program outreach materials (e.g., social media graphics, booklets, leaflets, and brochures)
· Support the development of event-related communications products (e.g., banners, name badges, and handout materials)
· Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
· A bachelor's or equivalent degree in journalism, social media, philology, public administration, international relations, social work, ecology, or a relevant field. Master’s degree is a plus.
· Minimum of three years of experience in developing and implementing successful strategic communications programs, with a focus on creating broad public awareness and engaging civil society.
· Outstanding interpersonal, written, and presentation skills.
· Knowledge of the local media landscape required.
· Proficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, and TikTok).
· Previous experience in strategic communications for large-scale reform initiatives preferred.
· Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign) preferred.
· Experience in website design and/or maintenance preferred.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Russian required; knowledge of a Central Asian language(s) preferred.
